Privacy Policy

The short version: We collect only what we need to run the app. We don't sell your data. We don't show you ads. Your family's information stays private.

1. Who we are

My Family Hub is operated by Steve Tingate, an individual trader based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia ("we", "us", "our"). You can reach us at privacy@myfamilyhub.com.au.

2. What information we collect

We collect information you provide directly when you create an account or use the app:

  • Name and email address (for your account)
  • Family member names and ages (to personalise the experience)
  • Content you create โ€” events, chores, chat messages, announcements, meal plans
  • Profile photos, if you choose to upload one
  • Subscription and billing information (processed by Apple or Google โ€” we never see your card details)

We also collect limited technical data automatically:

  • Device type and operating system version
  • App version
  • Crash reports and error logs (to fix bugs)
  • Push notification delivery status

3. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and operate the My Family Hub app
  • Send push notifications and daily briefs you've opted into
  • Respond to your support requests
  • Fix bugs and improve the app
  • Process your subscription via Apple App Store or Google Play

We do not use your information to show you advertisements, build advertising profiles, or sell data to third parties.

4. Children's privacy

My Family Hub is designed for family use, including children. We take children's privacy seriously.

  • Child accounts must be created and managed by a parent or guardian
  • We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent
  • Parents can view, edit, or delete any information associated with their child's account at any time from the parent dashboard
  • Child accounts have limited data sharing โ€” they cannot share information outside the family group

If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child without proper consent, please contact us immediately at privacy@myfamilyhub.com.au.

5. Data storage and security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, hosted on AWS infrastructure in the Sydney (ap-southeast-2) region. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest.

We implement row-level security so each family's data is isolated โ€” no family can access another family's information.

6. Data sharing

We share your data only with:

  • Supabase โ€” our database provider (data processor)
  • Apple / Google โ€” for subscription billing and push notifications
  • RevenueCat โ€” for subscription management (they receive anonymised purchase data)
  • Resend โ€” for transactional emails (e.g. launch notifications)

All third-party providers are bound by data processing agreements and may not use your data for their own purposes.

7. Your rights (Australian Privacy Act)

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you believe your privacy rights have been breached

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@myfamilyhub.com.au. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we permanently delete all associated data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain records by law.

9. Push notifications

We send push notifications for event reminders, chore updates, and daily briefs. You can disable these at any time in your device settings or within the app under Settings โ†’ Notifications.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
